The Hawaii State Legislature kicks off each session with Opening Day ceremonies, featuring much pomp and circumstance, music, and food. Lots of food. While the speeches and music are a draw, and all the open doors at the State Capitol provide an excellent opportunity for lobbyists and activists to plead their case, most of the crowd packs the halls of government for the free lunch. Hawaii got its second Apple Store today at Kahala Mall. The 5,000-square-foot Apple Store Kahala is the first Apple Store opening in three months, and is part of Apple's ambitious plan to open as many as 40 stores in 2007. First in line, at 3 a.m., was Dean Masai. And before the opening, the store was blessed by Hawaiian chant and hula.
